A series of books by US and Cuban authors on contemporary Cuban music and arts.
Cuban Beat Books began in 2016 when like-minded Cuban and US scholars, musicians, visual artists, and journalists decided to begin curating and publishing quality studies of the Cuban music scene that were accessible to both academic and non-academic readers. With the additional goal of reaching an English-speaking audience, Cuban Beat Books publishes both translations from Spanish and texts originally written in English.
The first volume, Beyond Buena Vista: Contemporary Cuban Song by Joaquín Borges-Triana, was published in Spring 2017. Volume two, Cuban Troubadours: Nueva Trova and Contemporary Cuban Song by Robert Nasatir, was released in 2018.
And Cuban Beat Books is pleased to announce that volume three, The First Stone: Essays on Contemporary Cuban Song and Society by Ariel Díaz, is available now!
All titles are available for purchase as paperbacks or eBooks at Amazon.com.
